graduate school (part three)
I’ve come to the realization that I don’t really enjoy doing psychotherapy as much (psychotherapy being “counseling,” “talk therapy,” “lying on the couch,” whatever you want to call it). I think it’s less about being too “involved” with my patients, but rather the fact that I have to sit there for 50 minutes being reflective and insightful, while helping them become more reflective and insightful on their own. I mean, I do this on top of taking 12 credits and I work part-time, and I see about 3-6 clients a week. I think it’d be different if I had a private practice or was able to manage my time differently.
I guess it’s the nature of the profession.
