I hate getting references for grad school applications and job interviews.  It’s a pain in the ass.  I feel like I’m hoping, groveling, begging, for someone (who’s ridiculously busy) to confirm that I am indeed organized, meticulous, thoughtful, diligent, hardworking, compassionate, outgoing and everything a perfect employee should be. 

I remember my professor from undergrad actually asking me to write my own letter of recommendation.  Then she’d edit it, sign her name, and mail out the letter to all the schools I applied to.  I’d totally make my students do that if I was a professor.  Less work for me.

But I hate it though…the process.
